Ever been in a choir, preached to one, or sat through a service wondering what all the choir fuss is about?
Regardless, we know we’re not supposed to preach to the choir. Leadership 101.
We’ve heard warnings about echo chambers, unchallenged agreements, and tamping down dissent.
Still, sometimes I wonder why the choir gets such a bad rap.
Haven’t they earned a little preaching after all that rehearsal?
Maybe the problem isn’t about preaching to the choir. Maybe the problem is about preaching only to the choir – or worse – ignoring them.
Used carefully, the mission, vision, and values we preach help us find the right people. But how do we make sure to keep them inspired while bringing the rest of the congregation ... umm team ... along?
