What leadership teams can learn from leg day

A couple of years ago, I started working with a personal trainer. I thought I was in reasonable condition—cycling, yoga, a few weights here and there. But it turns out I’d missed a few muscle groups (and had been seriously overestimating the lower-body benefits of biking).

Naturally, I couldn’t not think about how this translates to leadership. 😁

As I learned how to balance strength, stamina, flexibility, and stability in my workouts, I realized these are the same capacities strong leadership teams need to perform at their best. We don’t get there by accident—and we definitely don’t get there by cramming all the work into an annual retreat.

In my latest blog, I share what physical training taught me about building powerful, resilient leadership teams—and offer questions you can use to assess your team’s performance across those same four capacities. Oh, and there’s a reading list if you want to continue your exploration.
