Need a Child’s Pose About Now?

Bagley-isms

You know that feeling when you’re staring at your yoga mat, inventing creative reasons not to go to class? And then, sometimes, you go anyway and are richly rewarded?

You probably go because you remind yourself in that moment that afterward you will feel better (more grounded, more aware, more like yourself.) Or you cannot stand knowing how guilty you’ll feel if you don’t go.

I think leadership works a lot like that. At times, we resist the very practices that would make the whole experience better for everyone involved.

We need to remind ourselves that we will feel better and more effective for having paused, focused, or made small adjustments in how we went about our work.

If the practice of leadership has been feeling like the class you want to skip, this post is your gentle nudge to get back on the leadership mat. Take a deep breath (and, OK, a sip of coffee) and read on.
